New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay came out this week with a freighting comment about how she was “disturbed” at the sight of “dozens of American flags” flying on Long Island.

I would assume Gay was en route to the Hamptons from her Manhattan enclave and had to travel through the deplorable Queens, Nassau and western Suffolk counties before arriving at her destination.

“I was on Long Island this weekend visiting a really dear friend, and I was really disturbed. I saw, you know, dozens and dozens of pickup trucks with explicatives [sic] against Joe Biden on the back of them, Trump flags, and in some cases just dozens of American flags, which is also just disturbing … Essentially the message was clear: This is my country. This is not your country. I own this,” Gay told MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski.

It is inconceivable to me that anyone believes the greatest symbol in the world — the American flag — would be disturbed by it. In Hong Kong they were hoisting the flag in defiance of the Chinese government take over last year. The flag was raised over the smoldering ruins of the World Trade Center just hours after the horrific attack.

But that means little to Gay and her cohorts over at the Times. This same editorial board defended the use of the 1619 Project, which professes that America was always a racist state since the first slaves were brought to this country.

Of course Gay, who is black, also brought up race when speaking about the Capitol Hill protest on Jan. 6th. I think that as long as they see Americanness as the same as one with whiteness, this is going to continue,” she said, adding that “Americanness” and “whiteness” needed to be separated.

The lens that Gay and her fellow “journalists” on the board see the world is so jaded and warped I cannot even fathom how she could drive to the Hamptons.

Note to Gay: Please take care on Flag Day and the 4th of July. I would not want to see you triggered again. Perhaps next time you can take a copter out east and treat Long Island as fly-over country like other liberals see most of America.
