I hate NY is the new tourist campaign

Democrat leadership in New York are so desperate to get tourist back that they are willing to use our tax dollars to pay out of state women to come here for their abortions.

Yes that’s right. The new “I Love NY” campaign will feature a circled fetus with a line through it instead of a heart.

“That’s the goal of this bill – to ensure that everyone can get the care that they need no matter their [immigration] status or their socio-economic conditions, insurance status, all that,” Assemblywoman Jessica González-Rojas (D-Queens), said about the bill she is co-sponsoring with state Sen. Cordell Cleare (D-Harlem) in Albany.

It does not matter that whatever the US Supreme Court rules in the coming months, NY state has already passed a law, which is more draconian than Roe v, Wade, when it comes to abortion for residents.

The new bill would provide the state Health Department with $50 million to cover medical costs and traveling expenses as well as “childcare, lodging, and lost wages” for women coming to the state for an abortion.

There has been tepid response from upstate Republicans to the proposed bill.

“We have so many of our own citizens that have critical health care needs that we should be focused on. For instance, we are witnessing an explosion of mental health issues, especially in our young people,” Assemblyman John Salka (R-Cooperstown) said in a text.

“It’s outrageous. The taxpayers of the state of New York should not be subsidizing the performing of abortions for out-of-state women,” Salka said.

The bill is strongly backed by state Attorney General Letitia James, who proposed the idea of recruiting out-of-state women including those who illegally entered the country, to the state for the heinous procedure.

If the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, 26 states will ban or are likely to ban abortion, which means 58% of women of reproductive age, or about 40 million women, live in those 26 states, James said.

In 2019, almost 9% of abortions performed in New York, or about 7,000 individuals, came from other states. That number could grow to 32,000, according to recently released studies.

Personally, I guess it’s easier to become the tourist destination for abortions to replace all those visitors, who used to come here for Broadway shows and shopping. If you want to get those people back then you would have to crack down on crime, which no Democrat wants to do these days.

It’s just another sad day to be a New Yorker as the state Democratic leadership takes us down another road most people did not want to visit.

  1. Doesn’t anyone consider what a non issue abortion should be now with years of education about birth control and many methods of birth control made available to all?
