Texas Governor Greg Abbott has bested Mayor Eric Adams this week.
Abbott, who is busing migrants from the Texas border directly to New York City, said recently that New York City “is the ideal destination for these migrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Mayor Eric Adams has boasted about within the sanctuary city.
“I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so that our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief,” Abbott added.
“Believe me, we have more buses headed their way as we speak right now. But this just shows the hypocrisy of these liberal leaders up in the northeast who think that border crisis created by Joe Biden, that is fine as long as it’s Texas that has to deal with it,” Abbott said.
Adams countered that he could go to Texas and campaign for Abbott’s gubernatorial opponent Beto O’Rourke.
“I already called all of my friends in Texas and told them how to cast their vote, and I am deeply contemplating taking a busload of New Yorkers to go to Texas and do some good old-fashioned door knocking because, for the good of America, we have to get him out of office,” Adams said at a press conference.
Abbott in response tapped into his inner “Dirty Harry” and publicly dared Adams to “make my day” by carrying through on his threat to send New Yorkers to campaign against his re-election bid.
Abbott said there “could hardly be anything better” for him than for Democratic challenger O’Rourke to be “aided by a bunch of New Yorkers.”
“That will not be viewed very positively by the state of Texas,” he said.
“Mayor Adams said that they welcome in illegal immigrants. And now once they have to deal with the reality of it, they’re suddenly flummoxed and they cannot handle it,” Abbott said.
Adding: “They are now getting a taste of what we’re having to deal with … the challenges that Texas is dealing with every day.”
I believe Abbott won this Texas shoot out.
