NYC Mayor Eric Adams spoke the words no Democrat wants to say before the midterm elections.

Adams order city agencies — including NYPD — to cut their budgets due to stock market losses, “elevated inflation” and the potential for a devastating recession.

Adams has said he wanted to be hard on crime, yet the new edict will cut $157 million from the NYPD budget and more than $435 million from the city’s Department of Education.

The fact that Adams and his fellow Democrats are calling for these draconian cuts before the midterms and the governor’s race may be a calculated risk. They may get additional funding from Gov. Kathy Hochul, who is in an ever-tightening election against Republican Lee Zeldin, and from Washington as well.

There is no way either Albany or Washington D.C. wants to hear Adams complain about stock market losses, rising inflation and a pending recession as reasons for the budget cuts right now.

Look to see promises of additional funding come his way to keep him quiet before the Nov. elections. Whether that funding actually arrives is another question.
