Live by the sword, die by the sword.
Snapchat found this out this week when it ran an ad asking “would rather slap Rihanna or punch Chris Brown”.
Snapchat initially stated earlier this week, which was a pedestrian response to the ad, saying it “was reviewed and approved in error as it violates our advertising guidelines.”
The company found itself playing defense on Thursday when the singer took to Instagram writing, “Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there! I’d love to call this ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb!”
The post went on, “This isn’t about my personal feelings, cause I don’t have much of them … but all the women, children, and men that have been victims of DV [domestic violence] in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yet … you let us down! Shame on you. Throw the whole app-oligy away.”
Shares of Snap fell 5% on the posting.
The ad was making reference to Brown’s 2009 conviction for brutally assaulting Rihanna in a car.
