No news is not good news

I’ve spent the last two hours searching the web for a news topic for today’s post and I’ve come up with zero.

There is no news out of The White House since President Joe Biden goes home to Delaware every weekend. There’s no news coming out of Albany since Governor Andrew Cuomo has become a turtle over the many allegations he faces.

The only mildly interesting news item I saw was that Beijing has passed New York City as the billionaire capital of the world. The Chinese capital has exactly one more billionaire than Gotham, 100 to 99, according to the Forbes’ recently released list.

Ironically as the world was casted into a year of economic lock downs, the number of billionaires worldwide increased 32 percent to 2,755, or 660 more than a year ago, as many cashed in on a surging stock market. Beijing saw an uptick of 33 billionaires during the worldwide COVID catastrophe that began in China, while NYC’s roster increased by only seven.

One other fun piece of news over the weekend was in a Friday night statement President Trump trolled Twitter for the company’s disappointing earnings miss, which sent the stock down 15 percent in Friday’s trading. The stock price crash almost wiped out all of Twitter’s gains for 2021.

“Twitter stock plunged as results are no longer cutting it for investors,” Trump wrote Friday night after the markets closed. “Shares are off 15% today. Bad forecasts are hurting the outlook but more importantly, in my opinion, it has become totally BORING as people flock to leave the site.”

Trump called out Twitter’s censorship policies as the cause for missing subscriber growth numbers. “I guess that’s what happens when you go against FREEDOM OF SPEECH! It will happen to others also,” Trump wrote.
