Earlier Monday I wrote about high-powered Democratic defense lawyer Robert C. Gottlieb alleging in court filings that his client Anthony Comello was deluded by Q-Anon before shooting Francesco (Franky Boy) Cali, a Gambino crime family member outside his Staten Island home in March.
Well the backstory on how this story broke in the New York Times is what the Q-Anon board focused on.

Every single ‘dirty’ tactic being deployed to stop the growth of this movement.
Ask yourself a very simple Q – why?
Why are the biggest media co’s in the world…….

Ali Watkins is the reporter, which a Times profile says is on the Metro Desk, covering courts and social services. Previously, she covered national security in Washington for The Times, BuzzFeed and McClatchy Newspapers.
What it does not tell you is that from 2013 to 2017, Watkins was in a romantic relationship with the former head of security for the Senate Intelligence Committee, James Wolfe. The FBI opened an investigation into Wolfe after an April 2017 article by Watkins described contacts between Russian spies and Donald Trump policy adviser Carter Page, who she unmasked in the article.
In Oct. 2018, Wolfe pleaded guilty to one count of lying to the FBI about his relationship with Watkins. Professionally Watkins was demoted to the Metro Desk in New York.
The drops also mention Times Washington reporter Maggie Haberman, who tweeted minutes after the story was posted on the Times website.
There are at least 10 drops referencing Haberman including citing this John Podesta email speaking about the Hillary Clinton presidential run in 2016 from WikiLeaks:
“We have has a very good relationship with Maggie Haberman of Politico over the last year. We have had her tee up stories for us before and have never been disappointed. While we should have a larger conversation in the near future about a broader strategy for reengaging the beat press that covers HRC, for this we think we can achieve our objective and do the most shaping by going to Maggie.”
