NYers deserve more from its ‘leaders’

================= SPECIAL SATURDAY POST ================

Can New York City Mayor Eric Adams have a worse first three weeks in office?

One rookie police officer died and another fourth-year officer is in critical condition clinging to life because of the progressive policies Adams espoused in order to win the election.

Let’s look at the first three weeks of the Adams administration. It’s horrible when it comes to crime, despite what the Manhattan district attorney states. New York City has has five cops shot isince Adams was sworn in. It has had heinous crimes committed against citizens in the subway and above ground.

A retired NYPD detective said to me Friday night after the shooting that he knows how the workers on the Twin Towers felt when the buildings collapsed. The saw something they worked on for 20 years simply disappear in seconds. And they wanted to help.

Well all the work he did for 20 years battling crime has disappeared in less than two years. And yet he still wants to help.

Thanks to ex-Mayor Bill de Blasio’s progressive strikes against the NYPD, we all live in fear now.

So what will Mayor Adams do about this?

His first order of business should be to call Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg in a rip him a new one. There needs to be a unified voice speaking out against crime. All crime.

His initial reaction was to blame illegal guns. Wrong we are so past that mile marker in the city. This goes far deeper than stating: “There are no gun manufacturers in New York City. We don’t make guns here,” Adams said. “How are we removing thousands of guns off the street and they still find a way into New York City? In the hands of people of people that are killers, constantly carving highways of death, destroying our communities.”

“We need Washington to join us and act now to stop the flow of guns in New York City and cities like New York,” he urged.

No Mr. Mayor we need people who have illegal guns to fear using them. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.

Adams said in a press conference at Harlem Hospital after the shooting “We are not going to win this battle by dividing lines between us,” he said. “We must save this city together.”

No sir, you need to save this city with swift, bold actions. Gone are the days where you can say we will convene a community-based approach to this crime or that crime.

This is now war. A war where the opponents have no fear of police or the courts.

They know they all have a get out of jail free card in their pocket. They believe they will be martyred by the nation if they are killed. They believe their family will reap millions if they are killed.

This is what NYC is up against. It’s not growing crime, it’s war. And ordinary citizens are the POWs in this war.

Adams should make a pledge to all New Yorkers today. Get tough on crime or else Mr. Mayor you may be showing up at other hospitals this year mourning the loss of life.
