Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex trafficker awaiting trial on new charges died late Friday night in his downtown Manhattan jail cell, according to Corrections officials.

Multiple reports say the suicide was caused by hanging. Epstein was on a suicide watch since last month when he was found semi-unconscious in his cell.

The death comes hours after a Federal appeals court across the street from Metropolitan Correction Center released 2,000 pages of testimony and dispositions from Epstein’s Florida conviction.

Epstein was transported out of the Manhattan Correctional Center around 7:30 a.m. Saturday and taken to New York Downtown Hospital for an autopsy.

A call for a reported cardiac arrest came in at 6:38 a.m. from MCC, Fire Department sources told The New York Post.
