How can you run a newspaper and not have a newsroom?
The New York Daily News said on Wednesday it can and it will do it. Tribune Publishing said it shutdown the paper’s downtown Manhattan offices and that staff have until the end of October to empty their desks.
“Out of an abundance of caution we do not anticipate having employees that can work remotely coming back into the office for the remainder of the year and into 2021,” a Tribune spokesman said.
“With no clear path forward in terms of returning to work, and as the company evaluates its real estate needs in light of health and economic conditions brought about by the pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close the office.”
Also on Wednesday Time Out New York said it is ending the 25-year-old print edition due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The freebie entertainment and dining guide was published in over 30 cities globally at its peak.
Not a good week for newspapers so far.
My word!!! What a dystopia we are being pushed into!! Hopefully the coming elections will sweep all these Truth Deniers out of office!! 😉
