Beware a public heath crisis could be coming your way

What is it with leftist politicians and organizations these days?

In the last two weeks we have seen declarations from the United Nations, the World Health Organization and now The New York City Board of Health all declaring public health crisises over issues that do not related directly to health.

WHO issues a report that states climate change is behind “the greatest public health crisis”. The UN suggests poorer nations are experiencing “mental health crises” over climate and change. Also the Secretary-General António Guterres blasted billionaires traveling into space making a point in a speech to the General Assembly that the development of space tourism missions amid a public health crisis, saying the practice exacerbates long-standing inequalities.

So on Monday, The New York City Board of Health issued its own edict declaring racism a public health crisis.

“To build a healthier New York City, we must confront racism as a public health crisis,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Dave Chokshi, who along with the 11-member board passed the resolution are mostly appointed by Mayor Bill de Blasio.

The report cites many minority communities being hit hard from the Covid-19 pandemic and that the vaccine rates in these areas are the lowest in the city.

I would like to point out that if Democrats on the federal, state and local levels did not denigrate the vaccine when former President Donald Trump rolled it out last year, those vaccine rates may be much higher.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also declared structural racism a public health threat earlier this year.

The bigger picture is the use of “public health crisis” in an attempt to mend decades of abuses in leftist-controlled cities. It appears to this writer as smoke screen for other failed policies.

Here is one example of the hypocrisy coming out of City Hall. Last week di Blasio announced doing away with the Department of Education’s Gifted & Talented program because of a high population of Asian students when compared to the overall population.

On Monday the public health crisis because of racism cites, a long history of “anti-Asian violence” affecting health including the Chinese Exclusion Act and Japanese internment.”

These efforts to open up another black hole where billions of taxpayer funds will be drained under the guise of a combating a “public health crisis” will do little to help whatever the cause it is fighting.
