NYC: The new teenage wasteland

An 11-year-old girl was killed on Monday night after being caught in the crossfire of a shooting on a Bronx corner, NYPD said. This after 15 people were shot over the weekend in New York City.

The young girl is only the latest in teen and pre-teen shooting victims in the city.

Earlier Monday, two teenage boys were struck by bullets on a Brooklyn street. An 18-year-old was struck in the torso and a 19-year-old was hit in the leg.

Last Wednesday, a 17-year-old son of an NYPD officer was struck by a bullet in the arm across from his Maspeth, Queens high school. The teenager was not the intended target, police said.

Last Thursday night in the Bronx, a 14-year-old boy was shot in the arm and a 15-year-old was shot in the leg by a pair of gunmen. Both young teens were hospitalized in stable condition, police said. Two nights before that shooting, a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot outside a Bronx grocery.

Earlier in the month, an 18-year-old girl was shot in the lobby of a Crown Heights building and died days later and in a separate incident, a 13-year-old and 14-year-old were both shot outside Central Park. Both teens survived their injuries.

At the end of April, a 14-year-old girl was hit by a stray bullet in the neck and two 18-year-old boys were also shot in a gang-related hit, police said. All three teens survived the shooting.

All these victims found themselves in the wrong place, at the wrong time many in broad daylight in Mayor Eric Adams’ New York City.

While the mayor advocated for abortion up until the day of the delivery over the weekend, he has done very little to keep the surviving young adults alive in the five boroughs once they get past his rhetoric.

The tone-deaf mayor, who has become immune to daily shootings, believed he was heading to Albany on Tuesday to meet with state Democratic leaders including, Gov. Kathy Hochul, state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D-Westchester) and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D-The Bronx).

However all of them will be in Buffalo to be with their beloved President Joe Biden, who is scheduled to speak after the horrendous shooting there over the weekend.

You cannot draw a better illustration on what the Democrats have done to New York than what I have drawn out above. Teens are being maimed or killed on a daily basis here in the city in broad daylight.

Are they all innocent victims, perhaps not, but they deserve better than what Adams and Bill de Blasio before him gave them.

Look for Adams today to divert to Buffalo at the last minute to be with his leader.
