Critically injured Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin started a gofundme campaign last year in the hopes of raising $250,000 to provide toys for children this Christmas in his hometown of McKees Rocks, PA.
Well as of Wednesday morning the fund has almost $5 million thanks to people giving after Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest when he collapsed on the field on Monday night after making a tackle and momentarily getting to his feet. Hamlin remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Some notable names to donate to the fund include
One of the biggest donations, at $3,000, came from New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton and his wife Jordan, who received hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations from Bills fans in 2018 when Andy’s Cincinnati Bengals helped clinch a playoff berth for Buffalo.
Other names on the top donation list are Patriots owner Robert Kraft with an $18,003 donation, Tom Brady with $10,000, Russell Wilson and Ciara with $10,000 and Matthew Stafford with $12,000, pro wrestler Chris Jericho with two donations of $5,000 each, plus smaller donations from Devin McCourty, Jason McCourty, Andrew Whitworth, Erin Andrews, Brian Hoyer and George Kittle.
Hamlin is on a ventilator after being resuscitated twice — once on the field and once at the hospital.
