So the House of Representatives passed the $2,000 bump for all Americans, now the Senate appears to not want to pass the “stimulus”.
I put the word stimulus in quotes because getting our money back from Congress is not stimulus because the government takes a big vig on the money by issuing debt to pay for it, which we have to make good on in the future.
The fact that this Congress took eight months to “craft” a bill to help hurting American families is a travesty and a pox on them. Now the Senate Republicans are in the spotlight.
While I agree there are plenty of Americans who are in a dire financial position due to the Covid-19 shutdown, giving every man, woman and child $2,000 is reckless.
Many people are still employed working from home and collecting a paycheck as if nothing has happen at all besides having to load Zoom onto their home computers. Not sure they need to be compensated any further since they are saving money by not commuting to and from work.
Congress should have used the money to bump up state unemployment benefits for those truly harmed by the Covid-19 pandemic. These are the Americans who really need the help.
Also the fact that less than 40 percent of the $2.3 trillion spending bill is going to Americans is another travesty. Why are we funding overseas projects with cash we do not have while Americans are suffering?
I fear the next four years will be more of the same.
