So House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has caved into the pressure from fellow Democrats like Jerry Nadler to begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump.

Perhaps what really moved Pelosi was the growing Ukraine scandal involving presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter. Surely Pelosi knows that creating a smoke screen searching for “high crimes and misdemeanors” will deflect some of the glare from Bidens.

However, this circus will not end well for the Democrats and could lead to a monumental loss in the 2020 elections. There is zero chance of the Republican-controlled Senate of convicting Trump of any crime. We have already learned from Special Counsel Robert Mueller that there was no obstruction of justice. There was no collusion with Russia.

While Pelosi stopped just short of formal proceedings with her stating she is launching “an official impeachment inquiry,” nothing has changed to necessitate bringing formal charges.

In fact, the Dems could wind up with egg on their face months before the election by not getting enough votes in the House to send the articles to the Senate.

No, many Americans will see this as just an extension of the smear campaign that started  on Nov. 8, 2016.
