Michael Flynn will be the hero very soon

This Flynn is far more of a hero than the Hollywood actor ever was.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller recommended Tuesday that the former Army Lieutenant General Michael Flynn should be given a minimum to none prison sentence for lying to FBI agents about meeting with Russian ambassador before Trump took office.

“Given the defendant’s substantial assistance and other considerations…a sentence at the low end of the guideline range — including a sentence that does not impose a term of incarceration — is appropriate and warranted,” Mueller wrote in the filing to the court on Flynn’s sentencing.

The most interesting aspect of the brief was that Flynn has been helping the Justice Department on both the special counsel probe and a separate criminal investigation, with much of that section of the filing was heavily redacted in the court papers.

The criminal investigation more than likely was his dealings with US Attorney John Huber’s wider probe into the Clinton Foundation, Uranium One and global money laundering operations. Flynn could also be talking with DOJ’s Inspector General Michael Horowitz.

Flynn was the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency for almost two years during President Obama’s second term. He was not on board with Obama trying to justify to the American people that the Muslim Brotherhood was not evil. Flynn knew better and said as much.

So while the Obama White House could not fire him over his remarks they replaced Flynn at the DIA and named him United States National Security Advisor.

A position he served for a little over one month before he was let go from the White House. This was the reason — even before Trump took the oath of office the DOJ and FBI went after Flynn. He knew exactly where all the bodies were buried in the Obama White House.

It was pointed out to me that once Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, he was released from any non-disclosure agreements he had taken during his two tenures during the Obama presidency.

That’s where Flynn’s cooperation was most valuable to Huber’s criminal investigation.

A true swashbuckling hero.

Reporters covering Trump administration desperately becoming the story

I’m slightly encouraged that the vocation of news reporting is attempting to weed  out some bad actors.

(As an aside, journalism was something developed by Manhattan’s post-war cultural elite in the early 50’s and propagated by Universities. News reporting Is not something that can be learned in a lab, but in the firing line of a newsroom. I call myself a newspaperman.)

Some very recent developments:

  • Brian Ross of ABC News faulty reporting last December that retired Army Lieutenant General Michael Flynn — a National Security Analyst — was set to testify that President Trump told him post-election to make contact with the Russians. FALSE
  • Conor Berry, a reporter with The Republican in Springfield, Mass., tweeted last Thursday that the shooter at the Capital Gazette newspaper in Maryland left his Make America Great Again hat in the newsroom after killing 5 workers. FALSE. He resigned on Friday after 21 years as a reporter.

While some reporting from the liberal-leaning press has been skewed to demonize the Trump White House — President Trump has used other means like social media and campaign speeches to reach the American people — which perpetuates the press pool animosity.

Case in point NBC’s White House correspondent Jim Acosta screaming out to the president: “Mr. President, will you stop calling the press the enemy of the people,” soon after the Capital Gazette shooting. Implying that the two events were somehow linked.

As the Capital Gazette story developed it showed that the shooter, Jarrod W. Ramos, had past dealings with the staff over a Facebook harassment article about him and he brought a defamation suit against the paper that was dismissed, which appears to be the motive behind the killings, according to local police.

Don’t get me wrong, I feel for the families that lost loved ones in the Annapolis killings. But to use it as former President Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said: “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that, it’s an opportunity to do [say] things you think you could not do [say] before.

Perhaps no longer the gatekeepers to the White House the West Wing pool looks to make their bones by showing up the President, thereby becoming the story. Not the way journalism is taught, reportedly.

The left’s Russian Roulette is to keep Trump’s policy inside nesting dolls

The present day McCarthy hearings about Russian influence in the Trump administration has all the validity of the senator’s 1950’s witch hunt, it’s just flipped on its head.

While Senator Joseph McCarthy (WI-R) launched a crusade to root out fears of widespread Communist subversion during the beginning of the Cold War.

McCarthy charged that large numbers of Communists and Soviet spies and sympathizers had infiltrated the United States federal government and US society including Hollywood.

So now we have the flip side as Democrats are charging Russian influence under every blade of grass on the White House lawn. The fervor of McCarthy and his side-kick Roy Cohen saw “pinkos” conspiring to overthrow American values.

For me, this present day witch hunt is through the left-leaning media is not out of fear of undue influence of the Russian government’s infiltrating American society, it’s more about keeping the White House on the ropes over the issue to keep it from rolling back the Obama’s progressive movement over the previous eight years.

The amount of attention and resources put to the premise that President Trump or his surrogates conspired with Russia to somehow throw the election has been exhaustive without a charge leveled against anyone other than National Security Advisor Lieutenant General Michael Flynn misleading Vice President Mike Pence about the nature of his communications with the US Russian ambassador and whether he received money from foreign governments without getting the required approval.

However, divided government with the possibility of nothing of any merit — such as tax cuts and infrastructure spending, which would benefit many Americans — happening markets are bound to move higher.
